Japanese knotweed is classified among invasive plants. It presents serious threat to our environment all around the world. Uncontrolled spread of Japanese knotweed has huge impact on growth of native plant species. The plant is not exploited although it has a huge potential for use and annually produces huge amount of biomass. Our research group conducted literature review of laboratory analyses and found out that Japanese knotweed has many beneficial properties which can be included into human nutrition. One of most beneficial compounds are phytonutrients and resveratrol. Based on our findings, we decided to establish our own company - FallopiaGreen with a vision to exploit beneficial properties of Japanese knotweed in human nutrition. We have developed food product with added resveratrol from knotweed, which corresponds with trends in human nutrition. First product of FallopiaGreen company is Binny Muffs, nutritionally rich and wholesome muffin with added resveratrol, extracted from Japanese knotweed. It is ideal for quick, delicious snack or a tasty snack between meals with great properties according to guidelines of healthy nutrition, especially due to higher protein, fiber and mineral content. Environmental friendly recyclable packaging contains two delicious muffins.
